What is the percentage of calcium and phosphorus in pet food?Updated 5 months ago

Here's a brief overview of the calcium content in various meats. To reach the desired calcium levels, limestone is added to beef and pork but not to chicken, lamb, and fish, as they naturally contain bone.

For Adult Dogs:

- Beef: Calcium at 1.72%, Phosphorus at 0.92%

- Pork: Calcium at 1.98%, Phosphorus at 0.99%

- Chicken: Calcium at 0.84%, Phosphorus at 0.77%


For Puppies:

- Beef: Calcium at 1.36%, Phosphorus at 0.83%

- Pork: Calcium at 1.66%, Phosphorus at 0.97%

- Chicken: Calcium at 1.08%, Phosphorus at 0.85%


For Cats:

The predominant analysis are:  
- Calcium between 0.7 and 0.95% (AAFCO is 0.6).
- Phosphorous between 0.7 to 1.02%  (AAFCO is 0.5)
- Taurine between 0.36 and 0.41.  (AAFCO is 0.1)
