Is Freeze-dried Pet Food expensive?Updated 5 months ago
It’s not a cheap process, freeze-drying. That’s true. But the bottom line is that you’re not buying water when you buy freeze-dried food. And given that food is mainly water you’re taking out a lot of the bulk and weight of the produce by simply extracting it.
It will cost you around $60 to buy a dry kilo of Frontier Pets food. But that one kilo of food will reconstitute to 4 kilos of wet ‘as fed’ product, so it actually costs around $15 a kilo. That’s on par with a premium kibble – and so very much better!
You’re getting a much better product and you’re not paying any more for it.
You’re also doing your bit for the environment, because of the water component isn’t being transported to you.
