How 2.5kg of the freeze-dried dog food makes 10kg of dog food?Updated 5 months ago
When we freeze-dry the raw food, approximately 75% water is extracted. When you add the water back into the food on feeding, you are adding back the 75% water.
Freeze-dried dog food pellets will soften slightly but retain their soft, crunch texture when water is added. This process makes the food bulkier and more filling, which is particularly important for dogs that do not drink much water on their own. Therefore, 2.5kg of freeze-dried dog food can rehydrate to approximately 10kg.
If you are adding the same amount of water as food. This is how we calculate the water-fed values. You can choose to feed dry or add less or more water, and therefore, the as-fed values would change accordingly.
